Michael is a qualitative psychologist. This means that he is interested in how people make sense of their experiences.
His work draws on ideas from phenomenological philosophy and from the participatory research tradition to understand (and improve) the mental health experiences of young people and their families. This means that he works on projects which involve - firstly - finding out about people's experiences (through research) and then - secondly - co-developing better responses to those experiences (through codesign and coproduction processes).
Collaboration is the means by which all this learning and changing happens!
This website brings together information, networks and learning from some of those projects. It is particularly focused upon sharing insights about how to best support collaboration between people drawing on perspectives of experiential expertise, academic expertise and clinical expertise).
